Iron oxide and zinc oxide nanoparticles, while easy to synthesize and cost-effective, have high antibacterial properties against a variety of gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria. In this study, iron oxide and iron oxide-zinc oxide nanoparticles were synthesized by electric discharge method in liquid. For microstructural studies, XRD and UV_VISIBLE methods were used. The results indicate the formation of Fe3O4 and Fe phases in the iron oxide sample and ZnO and ZnFe2O4 in the iron-zinc oxide sample. The crystal sizes were 8 nm and 18.46 nm, respectively. FE-SEM and TEM analyzes confirmed the spherical and uniform core-shell structure. Antibacterial analyzes were performed by two methods: minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) and optical density, which confirmed the antibacterial properties of nanoparticles in both methods.
