Abstract:   (183 Views)
Luster pigments are a kind of special pigments, a group of which consists of a base and a shell. To make flaky silica from two cost-effective methods; Precipitation method and surfactant method were used. The resulting silica was crystallized in the form of tridymite in the precipitation method and in the form of cristobalite in the surfactant method. To apply the coating on the silica bases, titanium oxide was used. Also to silica particles; It was obtained with a size of 150 to 200 micrometers and a thickness of 80 to 100 micrometers. According to the obtained colorimetric values (L*= 86.23, a*= 0.58 and b*= 1.32), the pigment based on cristobalite phase has a blue-green undertone, in contrast to the pigment based on tridymite phase (L*=86/12, a*=0.28 and b*=1.6) is white. Also, the luster pigment based on silica with cristobalite phase has photoluminescence properties with an intensity of 9618 units at a wavelength of 468 nm, and a luster pigment based on tridymite has a photoluminescence property with an intensity of 6175 units at a wavelength of 449 nm.
