Abstract:   (148 Views)
In this study, a Ni-Co-La2O3-CeO2 coating was deposited on AISI 430 steel substrate by electroless plating method. Electroless plating was carried out at temperatures of 70, 75, 80, 85, and 90 °C and the effect of the plating bath temperature on their microstructure and corrosion behavior was investigated. The coating characterization was performed by using scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Potentiodynamic polarization and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) tests in 3.5 wt.% NaCl aqueous solution were used for corrosion resistance investigation. Microstructure studies showed that the optimum bath temperature for deposition was 80 °C. The results of Tafel polarization and electrochemical impedance tests were also consistent with the micrographs and the results showed that the coating created at 80 °C had the highest corrosion resistance compared to other coated samples.
